Enemy Down news Modern Warfare 2 extended footage

Quite a lot of gamers, myself included, are exited about playing Modern Warfare 2. The same hopes from the cod community will surface again I'm sure like they did on the release of COD4. Will they support clan gaming better? Have a working friends system? Provide spectator functions?

With or without these things the game will be a massive hit whether or not we will have an amazing difference in support for clan games from cod4 we will have to wait and see, the game itself uses the same engine so I don't think it will take long for the modders to do their magic work.

With a lot of games devs releasing titles on the console first, with a delay for the faithful PC gamers, Infinity Ward say the PC version will hit the  shelves  at the same time as the 360 version which is a plus.

Some extended footage at modernwarfare247.com of the Jet ski which looks like no holds barred fun.

Enemy Down news UKeSA Grand Finals: FIFA 09 PS3 and CS 1.6 Finals

The action has got underway here in London as the Championship Final for FIFA 09 on the PS3 and Counter-Strike 1.6 have started. ChrissyB took on AdamW in the FIFA 09 PS3 Final and at half-time the score was still 0-0. Both players looked confident going into the match but it was ChrissyB who prevailed in the end, winning the match 1-0 with a late goal. That's redemption for the Dignitas player who didn't manage to qualify for Season 2 in the FIFA 09 Premiership on the 360.

In CS 1.6, Dignitas is taking on Team CoolerMaster in what is looking to be a walk over for TCM. The match is currently in progress with TCM up 13-2. You can watch it on HLTV here.

Enemy Down news EnemyDown is back

Enemy Down was founded as a community site. Even when it became a more commercial, the staff and admins have worked hard to keep it at it's roots.

Now for the bit you may (or may not) be expecting after the leak on Cadred's forums last night. We've reopened the old site. You'll find enemydown.co.uk points to the older site, and enemydown.eu points to the new site.

We know you're not happy with the new site and we have recognised the fact that the ladders that you love and enjoy are not working to the high standard you've come to expect. We screwed up. So much so, that we've taken this drastic step.

For this mistake, I would like to say on behalf of everyone here at TNWA that we truly sorry. We hope this step works towards repairing the distrust and dislike that this has caused.

None of the data as it was a few weeks ago has changed. The site was frozen in time when we shut it down. We just thawed it out. So you can get back to playing in ladders and open challenges.

Don't worry about how the data looks on enemydown.eu for your clan/ladder for now. We'll have to come back to it and work out how to properly, rather than haphazardly, migrate the data across.

Once again, please accept out apologies for this. If you find things aren't quite working since the thawing, please let us know via the normal channels.

Icarus.

Enemy Down news The times they are a changing

The forums at enemydown.co.uk have become the enemydown.eu forums

Over the past six months the staff here at ED have slowly been grinding away at improving enemydown.eu to a point where we are happy enough to start the painful process of shutting down enemydown.co.uk forever. Well, it is with great sadness that I bring the news that this day is finally approaching. As of today the forums of enemydown.co.uk will become the forums to enemydown.eu - don't worry, all of the classic posts will still exist such as Edit Your War Across the Cliff and Hot or Not will still be on there. In fact, they're the very same forums but re-branded.

We know that many of you have been avoiding the closure of .co.uk for awhile now and we understand that these times will be tough. However, the old ED was obviously never designed to handle the amount of traffic that ED deals with now and it was no longer viable to host 200,000 users on the old site. As the man who gave Indiana Jones his fedora in The Last Crusade said, "you lost today kid, but it doesn't mean you have to like it."
Features of the site, why the change?

Why move over to the new ED? Quite simply the new site is faster, more secure, and less open to hacking and DOS attacks.

We're also responding to the community by taking any requests for new functionality on board and making vast improvements to the site on a weekly basis. Something the old site doesn't allow us to do. What do you need to do?
Not much. ED, XLEAGUE, and Devotii profiles will all work on the new ED and most clans and squads will have been successfully ported over. However, we are asking for players to check that their clans and squads are intact and have survived the migration from .co.uk to .eu - if you notice they have become separated or haven't survived completely, please contact support@enemydown.co.uk immediately. We have tried everything to ensure that clans and squads have remained intact during the migration.

With this news I offer solace that a man much wiser than myself predicted the closure of ED back in the 60's. His name was Robert Allen Zimmerman but most people know him as Bob Dylan.

Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

I almost forgot to mention... enemydown.co.uk closes on Thursday at 4pm!

Enemy Down news XAC: Joolz Public Service Announcement

If you're a PC gamer and use Enemy Down, you use X-Ray Anti-cheat. If you don't, bad PC gamer! Go download it now and see what it's all about. Anyway, XAC has seen some major updates over the past two months which have vastly improved the anti-cheat program to much applause. The guys responsible for this are none other then Joolz, the lead developer and admin over at XAC (and ex-cheat coder), and XAC admins Carwash and hagz.

Joolz and the crew have been working flat out to stay on top of all the cheats being created to bypass XAC. Now, to help save you money Joolz has decided to release a public service announcement to any one contemplating buying a cheat to work against XAC.

"A number of cheats claim to 'bypass' X-ray Anti-Cheat. In fact one high profile one is charging extra just to have their coveted X-ray Anti-Cheat Bypass! Save your money."

In a post defending the amount regular updates to the software, Joolz made it clear that the updates are to help keep the bad guys out and solve Anti-Virus/Punkbuster issues.

He added, "If you play in leagues that use X-ray Anti-Cheat, it's going to suck when you get caught out. Let me assure you, we do catch up with you eventually. In the case of a couple of private cheats, quite quickly!"

Joolz has released a list of players caught using the Code Hook X-Ray Bypass and netcoders cheats. You can take a look at the post and list of cheaters over at X-Ray Anti-Cheat.
