ED One Nighter
July 1st 2007
Next Sunday the 8/07/07 sees the return of the Day Of Defeat One Nighters cup. The time round it will see 8 of the clans going head to head in a straight knockout to see who can be crowned the one nighters champions.
#sX v {tBs} - sX are new comers to the DoD ladder, however, they should not be underestimated as a quick look through their roster shows a few well known faces to the dod scene, one of the most potent being that of the CL Luk£^. {tbs} on the other hand are a tried and tested team with a roster that matches that of any side in any ladder. This, however, can be their downfall, to many players in a roster can mean lack of cohesion in a starting line-up.
SA | v Xcess * - SA have only been in the ladder for a few months now, however, have proven their skill level all ready and have moved to the top of the ladder. With only 5 loses out of 24 matches they will certainly be no push over for any team. Xcess have yet to play in the ladder and hence prove somewhat of a dark horse in the cup. Looking over results through pcws you can see they have already played and beaten SA just last month. Should be an interesting match to watch.
rP`o*sk v 21stUK: - rP`o*sk are another new team to the ED ladder and so are yet to prove to pit their skills against the ED teams. However, like Xcess they have been playing pcws and other leagues and you just look at their result history and it hold some very impressive score lines! 21stUK are a fairly new team to ED as well only being around for the past few months. However, in this time they have played a lot of matches with a mixture of results to show that they aren’t just going to roll over against anyone.
[SFH] v insular - [SFH] like {tbs} have seemed to be around since the dawn of time. One of the most well known well respected clan through ED consisting of some of the finest Scots to grace this ladder. Insular again have only been in the ladder for the past couple of months. However in this time they have beaten some of the top teams in the ladder and should be a very strong opponent throughout this cup.
I would just like to wish all teams taking part in this cup all the best of luck.

Get in the know |
What is it?
Day of Defeat is a modification for the game half life. You can download the
game for free if you have half life or buy day of defeat standalone from most
shops. Recently turned gold this game is a great change from counterstrike.
World War II
It is based around WW2, Day of Defeat is a squad based first person shooter.
Each team has a selection of different classes to choose from (ranging from
rifleman to machine gunner) each of these use the appropriate weapon.
A few tips...
Teamwork is the key in this game, good communication and tactics leads to success.
Use rpgs/satchel charges to blow up breakable walls, and defend objective points
with support/machine gun fire, this slows down the enemy and allows support
to arrive.

OTHER INFO... |
Game types
Territorial control - usually called 'flag' maps the gameplay
is fast and furious. It requires the teams to capture flags by running
over them or waiting for backup to take a flag (some flags take more than
one person to capture). Once the territory is taken your team flag is
shown. Capture all flags and your team wins that round.
Capture/Destroy (Objective maps) - These maps are when your team
is given an objective to acomplish. This can range from capturing a fuel
dump to destroying tanks with RPGs. Once the area is captured/destroyed
it cannot be retaken by the opposing team till the next round. Complete
all the objectives and you win the round.
Scoring
Scoring in Day of Defeat depends on the map played. Be sure to read the
mission briefing to determine the scoring system for a particular map.
