The popular Annihilation Cup comes to a close tonight as cruciaL and validus battle it out for a share of the £300 prize fund!

This should be a great game with two very deserving finalists. The best of three final will kick off at 21:45 (GMT) sharp TONIGHT.

The Winter League 2008 Announced

The EDCS Events Team are pleased to announce The Winter League 2008. This event will have a prize fund of £1000.

The event will start with two leagues each containing 32 clans lasting for 3 weeks and finish with a straight knockout lasting for 5 weeks.

The prizes for these events are as follows:

First place = £350
Second place = £150

ED:CS 1.6 Prize Events Announced!

The ED:CS Events Team are pleased to announce Three more prize events for your enjoyment.

The first of these events is The Annihilation Cup. This will use a World Cup format, starting with a league and finishing with a single elimination cup. The total Prize Fund for this event is £300.

Mystery Fun Cup July 2nd

It's Back by popular demand for one night only clans get to slog it out in the Mystery Fun Cup. As some will know from previous events the whole idea and fun of this cup is you won't know what map you are playing until the night of the cup. You can see a list of the maps that we will be selecting from on the event page.
Note :: Clans will have to be in the custom ladder to take part in this event.You will also need to have one member from each clan idle in #enemydown.cs

EDCSL Season 8 Signups Now Open!
June 3rd 2008

Sign ups for Season 8 of the EDCSL are now open. Season 8 will contain 40 clans across 5 divisions and will take place over 7 weeks, beginning on June 23rd. Matches will take place on Monday nights at 21:00 GMT, if you are unavailable to play at this time then please DO NOT sign up.

Division placements will be announced on June 19th. They will be based on performance in Season 7 (if applicable), and in the ladder. Filtering of applicants will be done on a variety of factors, including reputation and activity.

What is it...
Counter-Strike is a modification for the popular game Half-Life. You can download the mod for free from the internet. Counter-Strike is now the most played online FPS game in the world and has developed a huge following.

How it began...
It was originally released by Minh Le aka Gooseman on the 19th of June 1999. This was followed by numerous beta updates until the game finally went gold and was included with Half-Life in a retail package.

Did you know...
Counter-Strike is far from over... there is a single player version in development known as 'Condition Zero' and there are also rumours that Minh Le is working on a sequel which will probably use the new Half-Life 2 engine.

The gameplay
Counter-Strike puts Terrorists up against Counter-Terrorists. The game takes place in a number of different locations from dusty arenas to snowy landscapes. There are currently three modes of play: Bomb, Hostage & Assassination.

Bomb
The Terrorists have to plant a bomb at designated target areas. The Counter-Terrorists have to prevent the Terrorists destroying the target by either eliminating all of the enemy or by defusing the device.

Hostage
Terrorists have taken a number of hostages that the Counter-Terrorist team must find and bring to safety.

Assassination
The Counter-Terrorists have to protect a VIP and escort him to a designated escape zone. The Terrorist squad's objective is to elimate the VIP.
